GZ EZ Mobile Tackle Delivery App Launched for GZ Lures in Hawaii
In December the owners of GZ Lures in Hawaii approached us to develop a mobile app to help launch their new Delivery service, GZ EZ Mobile Tackle in Kona, Hawaii. GZ Lures primarily sold fishing tackle gear through their Shopify commerce store and shipped them all over the world. Recognizing a niche opportunity to offer local delivery to their clients dockside and convenient pickup locations they felt an app might would a convenient way to provide the this new service.

To accomplish this we enhanced their current Shopify Commerce store by building out a delivery mechanism that would provide shoppers the option for Shipping or Local Delivery in Hawaii. We mapped out the local pickup locations on the mobile and website with pickup instructions and integrated the Shopify commerce store into the mobile app. This new delivery capability was designed to be accessible both online and through the mobile providing users multiple ways to engage through a range of devices. Our approach to mobile apps is to alway try and make them more engaging and less one dimensional. We want the users to find additional reasons to engage with the app so we integrated a variety of additional content and resources that GZ Lures had buried in their content rich website. This is an advantage we have come to love about our mobile apps where we can showcase content that might otherwise get overlooked with simple creative layouts.
Here are some of the key elements of the mobile app:
Shop GZ Commerce - Integrated Shopify
View Locations - On an interactive map shoppers can view available local delivery locations with GPS directions, image and contact info
Build Spread - Using Typeforms we integrated the api for a smooth in app experience where shoppers can build their custom spreads
Tips & Techniques & Billfish 101 - We integrated a direct feed from the GZ Lures Youtube channel. As they upload new content to Youtube the videos will automatically appear in the app
Push Notifications - As with all of our mobile apps we can send push notification with special offers, image, videos or call to actions to promote and further engage with customers and keep them informed
How long did it take? As is the case with most clients “yesterday” is the preferred timeline and we always do our best to over deliver. In February they already had the Van and so were in desperate need to get this rolling. With a little extra push and some late nights we were able to roll this entire project out within a matter of less than 2 months. That is pretty fast for a mobile app build and commerce delivery enhancement!
To help introduce the app to the world and make it easily accessible we whipped up some graphics and created our signature custom branded “QR Code” that they can display on their van and all marketing materials. Scan. Download. Shop. Engage!
Overall we are very excited about how the delivery element and mobile came out with plenty of future updates to come as the business developers. We will be helping to manage the mobile and providing on going support with their Commerce Delivery store.
